Golden Years with Dignity
Specialized Geriatric Psychiatry
Aging is a natural part of life, but severe memory loss, confusion, and chronic sadness are not. Many families mistake these symptoms for "just old age," causing their loved ones to suffer in silence.
Geriatric Psychiatry is the specialized field of focusing on the mental and emotional well-being of seniors (60+).
At Bharosa Neuropsychiatry Hospitals, we treat our elderly patients with the reverence they deserve. We look beyond the symptoms to treat the whole person, managing complex conditions like Dementia and Depression while ensuring their remaining years are lived with comfort and dignity.

Is It "Normal Aging" or Something More?
Forgetfulness happens to everyone. But there is a medical difference between losing your keys and forgetting what a key is used for.
Normal Aging
Forgetting a name but remembering it later.
Feeling sad after a loss, but recovering.
Needing help with new technology.
Maintaining personal hygiene.
Potential Clinical Issue
Forgetting close family members completely.
Persistent hopelessness and wish for death.
Getting lost in their own neighborhood.
Refusing to bathe or forgetting to eat.
Seniors face a unique set of neuropsychiatric challenges.
While these conditions are progressive, early intervention can significantly slow down memory loss and manage difficult behaviors (aggression, wandering). We focus on maintaining the patient's quality of life for as long as possible.
Depression in the elderly often looks different—it may show up as irritability, confusion, or physical pain rather than sadness. It is often triggered by loneliness, loss of a spouse, or retirement.
Many dementia patients become agitated, aggressive, or hallucinate as the sun goes down. We help families manage these difficult hours with medication and environmental changes.
Insomnia and disrupted sleep cycles are common but treatable. Restoring sleep is often the first step to improving mental health.

Our specialists follow strict safety protocols:

Private & Shared Rooms: Clean, hygienic, and comfortable living spaces.

Yes! This is called "Pseudodementia." Severe depression in seniors can mimic dementia symptoms. The good news is that unlike Alzheimer's, this memory loss is fully reversible once the depression is treated.
Visual hallucinations can be a sign of Lewy Body Dementia or Parkinson’s. This is a neurological symptom, not "insanity." We can prescribe medications to reduce these visions and calm the fear.
We have an In-Patient Facility for acute stabilization (e.g., if the patient becomes violent or unmanageable at home). For long-term nursing, we can stabilize the patient and then coordinate with specialized elder-care homes.
